All of these had been picked by my father. He climbed up high using a ladder. I don’t know how to describe (3) my father’s love. (1) You “pick up” something that is lying on the ground (e.g something you have dropped”. By contrast, you “pick strawberries”, “pick cherries”, “pick flowers”, etc. (2) It would sound more natural if you leave this“ there” out. It is clear where you mean. (3) I think he would express his love through his actions. And you would describe his love by talking about it.
