If seems from your question that you're talking about artists mostly (idol is a much more general term though).
I don't idolize any arists (I don't follow their examples), but I think Freddie Mercury and Billy Joel were very talented.
As for general idols, I try not to workship people too much, everyone has flaws. Gandhi has been some inspiration. John Bardeen is my favorite scientist.

Oh.Thank you Mark:-). Now i do know what this word means. My idol is Alan Turin. He is the person who gave me inspiration on Maths. And My favourite artist is Eminem. And Freddie Mercury is also my favourite rock star.
