Hi Sara and Bettina!

I like <em>Cyrano de Bergerac</em> too, Sara, do you know the movie by Jean-Paul Rappeneau with Gerard Depardieu staring Cyrano? It is reaaally good!

As I am concerned, I am not a big fan of French Theatre, but I am definitively fond of Shakespeare! For a more contemporary work, I would recommend Caryl Churchill's plays!

I have to admit that I don't know Austrian theatre neither Italian theatre. Do you have some suggestions for me?

Let's talk about theatre all around the world! :D

In London, I saw a couple of drawing-room comedies, and a classic or two (Daniel Radcliffe in <em>Equus</em> was an eyeful). I also got out to The Globe Theatre and saw their summer program: two works of Shakespeare (one modern, one traditional) and a modern work. I was a groundling! :)

I wasn't interested in seeing any of the huge musicals, as they eventually tour to Australia anyway.  I managed to see quite a few operas while I was studying theatre, and I fondly remember the comedy of <em>La Boheme</em>.

Another theatre goer here! Since the conversation now includes other genres I'll dare to participate as well.

I always preferred ballet or opera over plays, but maybe I'll learn to appreciate them more with time. I do like Shakespeare, though :-)

As for operas, Cavalleria Rusticana by Mascagni is one of my absolute favorites, but last year I happened to see I Vespri Siciliani by Verdi performed in French (the original language), which was an interesting change from the other Operas by Verdi that I've seen. It would definitely have given a totally different vibe if it had been performed in Italian, but I actually liked the combination of the French language and the Italian setting since highlighted the whole conflict in the plot.

I really like Cyrano de Bergerac by Rostand and The Taming of the Shrew by Shakespeare! But my knowledge about theatre is really poor, so if you have  any recommendations I'd be glad...:)

Alberto, I don't know opera very well, but I would say <em>Rusalka</em> by Dvorjak! The "song moon" is just so beautiful! And you? What are you tastes in matter of opera? 

Peachey, yes, I was talking about English theatre but whatever, I am most of all curious of what you know and appreciate! That's stunning that people don't think to go to theatre in Australia!

Which shows did you enjoy when you were living in London?
