What are you thoughts on this method of learning vocab?

The main purpose learning a new word is to make use of it in a conversation or your writing, so you had better combine your learning with practicing it frequently in sentences related to the word that also consolidates your retention firmly and keep your words fresh all the time in your mind.

Everyone has his limit to memory even you are very capable of retaining vocabulary, you all the same have to brush them up more often than not.

Oh, I didn't know this method, before reading your post, so I googled it. Well, I don't think this is something for me, because I loath handwriting and most probably I wouldn't be able to read my entries later anyway. Also, I don't do anything to actively memorize vocabulary. I just read and write texts in my target languages and that is enough to remember the words that are meaningful to me.

It really depends on your personal learning preferences. I'm not very fond of writing things down, I prefer to learn vocab in a more visual way. That's way the software Anki works so well for me, I do my own Flashcards very quick and then the spaced repetition program do all the works of organizing the the flashcards for me.

The goldlist method seems to be a good method, though.

I found this blog with tipps for memorizing vocabulary: http://www.lingholic.com/how-to-remember-words-when-learning-a-language/. Ok, now I know, I share Luca Lampariello's Natural Approach.
