The best and safest way for a single woman to travel to any country may be:

- with a group that has a group guide (usually organized by a travel agent), or

- to an all inclusive resort hotel that is protected by guards where you stay, eat and sleep (in Cuba, Veradaro is a great location)

Travelling around any country on your own (by yourself) is not safe for a young lady.

Cuba is known as a safe country for tourists, but it is a poor country with very few private businesses.

Cuba does have some of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen, and the people are friendly.

Cuba is (still ) a safe country. However it can happen that people steel things, in your hotel-room, in the pocket of your suitcase at the airport, opening your backpack with a knife on the street. But nobody is physically or verbally aggressive and people are nice. The explanation is that the blockade and tourism are messing up the country who is living now on double standards. A doctor, an ingeneer earn around 30 or 40 euros a month (the amount you pay for a night in an Airbnb), someone who helps to carry suitcases in one of those big hotels in Varadero reserved exclusively to Canadian or European tourists (inaccessible for Cubans) earns this money in one day. So how can Cuban parents explain to their teenagers that it is worthwhile to study, to go to university if the children know that they will end up being "a working poor".

But it's a nice country. You can travel around by yourself easily by taking the tourist bus called Viazul. You can buy tickets online. If you are looking for good accommodation look for a "Casa particular".

september is a good month. Still warm, no rain....maybe a hurricane, but that's the Tropics.

visit Trinidad! A must and Santiago de Cuba. Do not miss "la Casa de la Trova" for music. And beware that Cubans are very charming especially with young blond ladies.
