Why do teachers decide not to leave a comment after a lesson?

I'm okay with students not leaving a comment as they can still rate and endorse teachers, so it's not the same as zero feedback.

But why do teachers not leave feedback? As a teacher I always leave feedback and can't imagine why others don't. Is it just not important for some as they have enough work or is it a clear 'Don't book another lesson, I hated working with you!'

I kind of think that if you want a student to come back, you close the lesson by leaving some feedback. What's your take? I don't want to read too much into it, I'm just really interested in finding out.

I think most teachers provide feedback during the lesson, either on an on-going basis or at the end. That being the case, why write it down for others to see? What a student does or does not need to improve on should probably stay between teacher and student.

I know that my opinion is different, but I really like it when my teacher leaves feedback,

and I do remind my teachers to leave me feedback as well :)

A feedback to a student could stop other prospective teachers from accepting requests

from a student who is disrespectful or simply has a bad attitude. We always focus on

teachers/ tutors mistakes but we hardly do that when it comes to students! Once I've seen

a feedback from a teacher I respect on a student's profile, and it did help me a lot to know

that it's risky to accept any lesson requests from that student.

Also I really like teacher's feedback because it's a quick reminder in one place for the

student about what they studied in the class. It helps a lot if you have problems in your

short-term memory like me :) So for me it's not about leaving a 'thank you' note for the

student! I'm not sure why a teacher needs to thank the student anyway! A teacher offered

a service and a student paid, so feedback should be about the teacher's service and what

was taken in the class.

* I just read Guyomar's comment after I posted mine. We really have many thoughts  in common :)

This topic really brings different opinions. I go with Phill's.

I usually don't leave a written feedback on the site for every lesson (usually I only write feedback on the first one) but that doesn't mean that I don't give feedback. During the session is the proper time to leave a feedback, explaining things in details.

Secondly, many of these feedback out there are robotic already and always praising and writing very beautifully with lots of compliments and motivation.

"Thank you very much, you've improved a lot"

"So-and-so did a great work today. We talked about this.. and this ... and that"

"Congratulations, you have improved a lot. The key is to practice" .....

and I could add many many more which, in my case, doesn't help me if it's a new student and I check his profile to see prior lessons and comments from other teachers. Many times I've read feedback from other teachers saying things like "Oh you're so fluent, perfect and bla bla bla" and when it was with me, I couldn't see the skills of the student the way they were described by others.

And also, I don't want to expose the student a lot.in public. Very often I am more than honest and a little bit harsh when I am giving feedback to my students and it's better when they are online face to face with me where they can have the option to ask for more details, or share something.

Giuliano, I understand what you mean but I just want to tell you that unlike feedback given

to teachers/ tutors, a student history can be easily hidden if a student prefers to keep it private.
