I'm curious
So I'm learning how to read Urdu I read Hindi fluently but my question is: by reading Urdu will I be able to read Arabic as well (of course I do not mean understand) as in will I be able to sound out most Arabic words?

As a native Urdu speaker and a Muslim, we pretty much have to learn how to read Arabic, in order to recite the Quran. So yes, you can learn to read Arabic, if you learn to read URDU. Children here learn the entire Quran in Arabic, while not speaking or understanding the language. While only knowing how to speak Urdu. I took me only a few months to properly learn how to read Arabic, because of my natural Urdu base.

The Urdu script is based on the Arabic script. All letters in Arabic are also in Urdu, and Urdu has some additional letters as well. However, Urdu tends to look more cursive, even on screen. Personally, I think that makes Arabic easier to read, although that might just be my bias. Either way, if you do struggle with reading the letters in Arabic, it just takes getting used to.
