It's incredible just how many of my students are studying English for their careers, but I guess it shouldn't come as such a surprise to me. With technology and increasing globalization throughout the world, we are now "connected" in so many ways. Learning English is essential to not only succeed in your current profession, but also open the doors for potential career opportunities in the future.

Do many of you feel the same way? Do you feel increasing pressure to master the English language in your current profession?

I agree, now days by internet you are connect with all the world and you could work for a foreigner company staying at home or also for others causes like study, hobbies, travels, therefore to speak English is very important .

I work in a manufacturing company and deal with companies worldwide and there are very few where they do not speak English. So I imagine there would be a strong expectation of English skills. There certainly is in our company.
