Consuming Trends or Consumption trends?

Hi there!

Guys, can you help me on this?
I just can`t see the difference clearly. We say "CONSUMING TRENDS", "CONSUMPTION TRENDS" or both mean exactly the same?

I know consume is a verb while consumption is a noun but when I say "Consuming Trends", the word consuming is working as an adjective therefore it would be the same. Am I right?

Thanks in advance!

no, "consuming trends" would refer to a way that the trends are being "eaten" or "consumed"

You want "consumption trends" that is the increase/decrease of the consumption of whatever material you are debating.

I agree with Bill's response.

"consuming" in the phrase "consuming trends" is the adjective form of the word "consuming" modifying/describing the noun "trend".

In the adjective form, the word consuming means "obsessive, urgent, intense, strong, preoccupying, engrossing".

So, a consuming trend is a trend that completely occupies a person's attention.

As Bill said, the phrase you need is most likely "consumption trend", i.e., the trend (increase or decrease) use or utilization of goods, materials, or services.
