すごく気になる!「久しぶり」
「久しぶり」の使い方が、とても気になります。私のアメリカ人の友達もよく間違えるし、ノートブックでもよく間違っている人がいます。
I often see or hear these wrong Japanese.
・久しぶりに会わなかった。
・久しぶりに勉強しません。
I guess some dictionaries say just "久しぶり means ” for a long time"
It is not wrong, but you can't use it in the negative sentences. There might be exceptional phrases(I've never seen it though), but if you say 久しぶりに~ない, it sounds strange and mislead the meaning which is completely different.
Correctly, in the negative sentences, they will be
長い間、会わなかった
長い間、勉強しませんでした。
You can say しばらく instead of 長い間,too.
Probably you wanted to say, "It's been a long time since we met./ since I studied before), then, you should say
久しぶりに会った
久しぶりに勉強した
If you want to say, "Long time no see!"
久しぶり!
久しぶりです。
お久しぶりです。
久しぶりに会わなかった is wrong. Please mind it.
