Yeah. Sometimes we love someone but they dont love us but sometimes they love us but we dont love them. So, that's really unfair to all. :D 

Fair or unfair, it is hard to tell. The most important thing is wether you enjoy to love him or her. If not, you feel unfair when you don't get the same from him or her. If yes, you will not think about fairness.
I agree with the Andrew's opinion which is a very acdemic answer but explains realy the reality.
