To catch or to contact?

Hello everybody,
Could you help me please about these sentences?

Hello Lara,
hope you are well.

Before my leaving I tried
- to catch you (in your office, mobile phone) to say good bye/for saying good bye

OR

-to pass in your office and contact you at mobile phone to say good bye/for saying good bye

A lot of warm regards to Helen and Jonh, also from Riccardo.

Request: Can I use TO CATCH instead of TO PASS and TO CONTACT in the formal form?
Is it correct this sentence?

Thanks very much,

Best Regards,

Lara

Correct:   I tried to catch you in your office to say goodbye.

Correct:  I tried to catch you on your mobile phone to say goodbye.

Incorrect:  ...... for saying goodbye.

Correct:  I tried to pass by your office to say goodbye.

Incorrect:  I tried to pass your office to say goodbye.

Correct:  I tried to contact you on your mobile phone to say goodbye.

Incorrect: I tried to contact you at mobile phone to say goodbye.

"catch" is informal.  "contact" is formal.
