Tomorrow is the Lantern Festival 明天是元宵节 Tomorrow, the 15th of the first lunar month of Chinese calendar, is called "Shangyuanjie"(上元节)or "Yuanxiaojie"(元宵节)in Chinese and the Lantern Festival in English, which is the first important festival after the Spring Festival. There were many original legends about it. One of them is it was established by Wendi(文帝), an emperor of Han Dynasty to celebrate beating the so-called Zhulu(诸吕) with second name is Lu(吕), who are offspring or relatives of the first emperor's queen (吕后,吕雉)of Han Dynasty and wanted to seize power from the first emperor’s successor with surname is Liu. Another folklore is related to Taoism, the unique native religion in china. In the evening of this day, the whole family usually went out to see the lanterns along the street and guess riddles. It was also a big party in ancient time for people with insufficient amusement. Nowadays, during the Lantern Festival, people go to appreciate the lanterns in parks too. The special food of this day is dumpling(Tangyuan汤圆、元宵 ) . The traditional Chinese Spring Festival holidays will officially finished after the Lantern Festival. 祝大家元宵节快乐!
