Should governments spend more money on improving roads and highways? Should governments spend more money in improving roads and highways, or should governments spend more money spend in improving public transportation? May be it is a tough choice for government to make. Some people argue that it should spend more money in improving roads and highways because that a better road condition can promote the growth and development with the nearly cities. But some people react to this problem the other way around and contend that the opposite is more reasonable. If a choice has to be made between spending money on improving the roads or improving public transportation, I would choose the latter. The reasons are below: On the one hand, a good public transportation system plays a very important role in our life whether individual or community. Firstly, improving the public transportation is an effective method to relieve the traffic pressure. It is quiet clear that traffic congestion is a serious problem in many big cities. In order to tackle the problem, governments should turn people' attention on public vehicles to reduce cars and motorbikes. If a city has a very well transportation system, people would be willing to use the public transportation. In this situation there will reduce the number of cars entering the road, and relieve the road jam, increase the traffic efficiency. Secondly, a good transportation system is benefit to public, because it is cheap for people. Also its frequent services can save time because people don’t need to waste time to find place to parking their cars. Moreover public transportations such as subways and urban-railway are the best way to transport enormous people between cities and it can reduce the number of cars at roads. On the other hand, a good public transportation can reduce the air pollution, because the buses, cars and trains emit a harmful gas which causes lots of diseases such as lung cancer and pneumonia. Too many private cars may easy to causes traffic jam and more problems, such as noise pollution and more accidents. The quality of our natural environment has become an important issue, so it is one reason for governments to improving the public transportation. Moreover, government can raise its income by collecting fares from the increasing number of buses, trains and other services. Considering the above reasons, I think upgrading the public transportation system brings more advantages than the choice that gove
