IELTS Essay Task: Some people argue that academically weak students should study in the same class as academically strong students. Others argue that they should study in separate groups. What are the benefits of both these approaches and what is your opinion? Essay: There is a common believe that those students who are more advanced in science and those who are less talented should be taught in separate classes. Although this idea might have some advantages, I am totally convinces that the benefits from having both of these groups of students learning together will overwhelm. To begin with, there are some benefits for a teacher to work with less dispersed student. By saying this I mean that a tutor may concentrate on week or strong sides of his or het students and decide which approach is better for them. For example, I my school three different classes were mixed into two classes after nine years of studying just to separate more talented children from other, less talented. However, a second class felt a little frustrated due to being separated. On the other hand, if children were taught together, they could help each other and this would have more positive result in terms of social and consequently educational feedback. It is quite a bad idea to separate those children who are fond of sports and those who are into the maths due to the fact that it may develop social gap between these two groups of children that, in turn, may have a negative feedback in their future life and attitude. Moreover, when children are studying together they learn how to respect each other and how to understand that problems of each other. For example, a boy who is strong in math but who is shy can ask another pupil for a help or advice to beat his timidity. Vise versa, more active kid may ask for a help in math or something else. I believe, this type of communication is very important for the future of a girl or a boy. It is easy to teach somebody something new, but it is very hard to make a person become a good team player, when he or she has already grown up and this is very important nowadays. In conclusion, I want to say that despite all the advantages of separation of children, it is as bad ideas as separate boys and girls.
