In the last fifty years the quality of the atmosphere has been decreasing very fast. The environmental problems are every day in the news, and although the people population and government are taking action concious, we still have a long way to go walk.
There are several environmental problems that affect our health directly, but also others will have consequences in the future, and our children could suffer these consequences.
Firstly, the quality of the air we breath is worse every day, and many people are developing allergies are becoming allergic. This is a problem that didn't exist a few years ago.
Secondly, the destruction of rainforest is probably one of the most important causes of the global warming, because many trees are being cutting down, and these are the main lung of the Earth (not sure what you wanted to say. This last phrase was correct as a sentence, but we would probably not say it in that way).
On the other hand, thanks to some preventive measures and to techological advances, some problems will be solved and won't have drastic consequences in a near future.
In short, I feel optimistic about the future, and I think that our children won't live in a worse environment than we do.
