A toefl:Teachers were more appreciated and valued by the society in the past than they are now? Is there a good reason for a teacher not to be respected by the modern society? In some people’s perception, the answer is negative, and while, there are quite a number of others whose collective answer turns out to be positive. On personal level, I would like to support the second view for the reasons of the way of acquiring knowledge and bad behavior of some teachers. The first reason for my propensity for underratting the role of teachers for our society is the development of modern technology, like the Internet, laptop and smartphone, which equip us with easy access to knowledge and information. Take myself as an example, I need to study English in order to get a good grades for my TOEFL exam. However, I would like to find some study partners on the Internet like the website italki, rather than find the professional teachers in real life. On one hand, I can save money and improve English in a more effective and efficient way by speaking with those native speakers; on the other hand, I can also make lots of friends with different cultures by exchange language with them, which shapes my personality and improves my interpersonal skills as well. But only 20 years before, we students can only learn knowledge in the classroom. The reason of teachers’ moral quality comes next to the reason of technology development. That is, many teachers nowadays violate their profession’s ethnics, which definitely lead to a bad impression for teachers by society. Recently, the problem of students security on campus in China has caused public concerns. Unfortunately, people find that hardly can the children, especially little girls, can enjoy a safe and happy life. Many unscrupulous teachers rape their students and threaten them not to tell their parents. Just during half year in 2014, there were over 10 similar cases revealed by the medias in China. Scandals like this seriously damage the image of glory teachers. A survey conducted by China Daily in several major cities in China in 2014 shows that over two-third of interviewers thinks that they are not longer respect their most teachers during their study life. And the problem itself seems like running deeper than mere numbers suggest. So it is high time that we seriously take teachers’ personality into account the next time when we think about the problem whether we should appreciate or value the teachers.
