TOEFL Essay - Some young adults want independence from their parents. Others prefer to live with their parents. Which of these situations do you think is better and why? When a young adult decides to leave, it is necessary to be clear on all of the consequences of this. Whether it sounds exciting or frightening, it is a big step. It requires a lot of thinking. An evaluation of the pros and cons should be done prior to making a decision. The first aspect to consider is the money. Are we still going to ask our parents for money? Are we expecting to live the life of a rich person? If the answer to any of these two questions is yes, then the person should not consider moving out until they are able to be their own financial support. It is not fair to leave your home and still depend on your parents. Renting a new apartment, house or room will only increase the living expenses of your family. Stay focused on getting a job first, then make a decision. A second aspect that we should think through is our feelings. How do we feel about living by ourselves? Are we fine with loneliness? Our mental health is as important as our physical health. We need to be able to face a reality in which there will be no one to help us right away. The feeling of your relatives greeting as you arrive will not be there anymore. Finally, it would not do us any harm to look up the definition of the word independence. It is important to know what we mean when we say that we would love to be independent from our parents. Independence is a huge word. It takes some maturity to be able to carry it out successfully. Becoming independent can have a positive or negative result. It is indeed, a great way to stop being "young" adults and begin to take responsibilities. The right moment to do this, which will eventually happen, is not defined by age. A person who is mature enough should leave their homes when they feel like they are ready. The purpose of not depending anymore on your parents should not be to stay away from them. It should not be to do as you want, either. Personal and/or professional growth must be the determining factors. By following these recommendations, it is possible to determine whether to have your independence, or to wait a little more. Asking your parents will always be helpful.
