My experience about death Recently I am reading «Staring at the sun---overcoming the terror of death» ,written by Irvin Yalom who is one of the greatest psychologists that I respect the most. I read it slowly because my English is not good enough to understand it. However I read a few pages every day that I already have reached page 22th. I hope I can finish it at the end of June. Slowly but page by page.. Have I confronted death? Not exactly. I haven't experienced death directly, but I have a strong belief that it's a dark shadow over my life. I remembered I have had many nightmares when I was a child. It's called covert death anxiety according to the book. Such as: I have dreamed of many times being chased by a lion or a tiger, falling from a great height, or hiding from a mortal threat. I was awakened by tears and horrors like this many times. As a matter of fact,I was also hit by a car twice. Luckily I only got some bruises on my legs and arms. Confronting with death is kind of like staring at the sun, something painful, difficult but necessary if you want to carry on living fully conscious about the true nature of human beings, about the meaning of our brief life in the universe, about who you really are.
