Why do Brazilians laugh so much?
People always ask me that: "Why do Brazilians laugh so much? When they are happy, they are celebrating, drinking beer, dancing... When they are sad, they are making jokes, laughing at themselves... Why?"
Brazilian people really do that. It sounds like we don't care. We have a phrase that says: "to laugh not to cry", it means we choose to laugh at the situation instead of crying for sad things.
There's a brazilian song that says something like: "Let the life take me", this is our "let it be" from The Beatles. If it can’t be helped, don’t cry over spilled milk, let it be. "What has no remedy, remedied is" is a popular Brazilian saying that makes a lot of sense for us.
The world knows the music "don't worry, be happy", but we live the meaning. We are not rich, we do not have the best education, we have the worst politicians, but we are always happy because happiness depends on ourselves and we choose to be happy every day.
