I fell even more in love with English after my father passed away. All my life, until 2017, when he was gone, my father encouraged language learning and knowledge of American culture through the course he enrolled me and my sisters in, through movies (then on VHSs) that he rented to us on weekends, making silly chats during the day in English to see how we were in the language, talking about the times he lived and studied in Washington, his experiences in his youth and his American friends. When he died I saw that what I complained so much in childhood to learn (because I entered the English course at 8 and left at 16) became the greatest gift my father could have left me. Thanks to my father, I am now able to make valuable connections and expand my artistic, professional, personal and collective universe. I miss my father a lot, and it's been very difficult to write this text without crying, but I know he would be (or is) very happy to see me on italki, exchanging with the world, teaching Portuguese and learning English even more. "See you later, alligator!" as he used to test me. One day we'll see each other again. #Fall-into-Learning

I remember the first time I began understanding my favorite French-speaking artist, Stromae. I was a big fan of his music long before I could understand it because his musicality and style are legendary. You don't need to understand for him to speak to your soul. However, I listened to all of his songs on repeat and last year I started understanding more and more of what he was saying. If was a great feeling, knowing that all my efforts in learning the Language were being realized. #Fall-in-Learning (art by my Wife Natasha Geoffroy / Goddart)

I still remember how I fell in love with English. I was reading a work of Shakespeare and bumped into a beautiful sentence: ‘ A rose by any other name would smell as sweet ‘ . So simple, yet so deep , meaningful and beautiful. I stayed there with these words and pondered upon it . I was so touched with these words that I was amazed and felt tears coming into my eyes . That was the moment when I fell in love with English. And as I kept learning and reading more , I know I have fallen even deeper in love with English. Reading in English has helped me widen my horizon and I’ve known more wisdom by English. And I’m so grateful for having fallen in love with English . Me and English , we’re a lifelong romance . 💖💖💖

I had chicken pox and had to stay locked inside my room. So I started watching the Anime channel on my TV. I watched many series and one of them was "Kamisama Hajimemashita". I was learning Chinese in my Kung-Fu Academy but after watching these series I felt some sort of connection and familiarity with Japanese language. So in my college years, I started writing Hiragana and Katakana (Japanese alphabets) at the back of my notebooks in between my classes. I had many college projects to be busy with but you always find time for someone/something you love, don't you? ;) Now I try to make use of what I learnt (and am learning) in Japanese while teaching Japanese students. #Fall-into-Learning
