My favorite moment is when I got back home, the cat came up to me and caressed my feet.

Hi Joanne. "Got back home" is more natural. When we talk about your house, we say "home" and we are thinking of the general place where you live, not about the physical building. Please don't worry about mistakes - we can learn from them. Keep practicing!
