I’m hoping to get a tattoo in Swahili to honor my dog that I recently lost. Any native speakers have feedback about the phrase below? My dog was named Nala, like from the Lion King, but later in her life I learned that her name meant “gift”, which was heartwarming.
Not sure if there is something better that sounds more natural
“Upendo wa Nala ni mwangaza usiozimika”
Nala’s love is a light that never goes out
“Upendo ni Nala kwa wengine, na unang’aa milele.”
Love is a blessing to others, and it shines forever.
“Upendo ni Nala safi, mwanga wake haizimiki.”
Love is a pure blessing, and its light never goes out

First sentence is okay. Second one, most Kiswahili speakers do not use the word 'nala' especially when referring to a gift but will likely use words like zawadi, tunu, kipaji etc. However, I understand the dog was special to you. Third sentence has incorrect grammar. It should be mwanga wake hauzimwi or hauzimiki.

The first one is much better, the second one is a bit off and the last one has grammar issues

If you want phrases to honour Nala more directly u can use
Nala alikuwa zawadi yenye mwangaza usiozimika.
(Nala was a gift with a everlasting light)

I think the first sentence sounds really great. It is quite simple yet carries forward the intended message. It cannot be misunderstood.
