It was sunny today. In class, I learned an expository text that was all about crocodilians. Who knew there was such a difference between crocodiles and alligators? For one thing, crocodiles can grow to be 20 feet long as alligators are approximately 12 feet long in average. And crocodiles lay their eggs in holes they dig in the ground, while alligators lay their eggs on a bed of leaves and then cover them with a mound made of grasses and mud. Moreover, here is something wild - the warmth of the nest helps determine the gender of the newborns. Which means, they can choose the gender of their hatchlings! Today, it’s a shame that these big lizards are mostly endangered. We should protect them by all means.

It was sunny today. (This is written correctly, but not quite relevant to what follows.)

Technically, it is grammatically incorrect to start a sentence with a conjunction ("or", "and", etc.), though this happens all the time in speech and social media.

I did see crocodile meat on sale in a market in XM once.
