'worthy'
an adjective that could mean:
- having worth ,value or merit : worthy to be visited, worthy of respect, worthy of being chosen.
- admirable,valuable or important person : a worthy fellow
- having the value of : the book is worth 30 pounds.
'worthwhile'
Also an adjective meaning something sufficiently important, rewarding, or valuable to justify time or effort spent. It is more concerned with the time element spent on something,so it has the future aspect in mind. It means beneficial, gainful, profitable, useful ( the future and long run in perspective).
It just has this meaning ,so you can't say a 'worthwhile person' , only a 'worthy' person.
