This is sort of an expression. "Salf" is ointment. Normally when you use this expression it will refer to someone who is reluctant to taking good advice and end up in a bad situation, so there is nothing that can be done for him anymore, thus the expression. Daar is aan jou geen salf te smeer nie. So in other words it can't be fixed (healed).
