How to remember the genders of German noun? It seems that there's no rule in memorizing the genders of German noun. And I'm not sure if we can call words like die, das, der "gender".

I'll recommend to learn your vocabulary every time with the gender of the noun. There are a "few" hints (see link - scroll down to the blue charts), but the best way should be to memoriize them. http://www.saunalahti.fi/~michi1/uebungen/grahilfe.htm#art

Unfortunately we learn this part of German mostly by heart during childhood. I am often surprised about rules I never heard of in school when talking to non native speakers. Example: All nouns ending on ...heit or ...keit use the article "die" (die Dunkelheit or die Einsamkeit) As you might know, all plural nouns use the article "die" Hopefully some non native speakers can step in to provide more rules

There are "rules", and there are exceptions to the rules. I mastered this feat by actually memorizing the exceptions! Thing is, at the time (30 years ago) I had a brilliant book which listed all this stuff. The book's name: "Simpler German Course." Russon. I haven't seen a listing of genders that comes even close to the excellence of this book. Most sites will only say: "Words with such and such an ending are mostly/always/sometimes this gender. Then they leave you hanging. Yes, I hate that, too. If I ever find that book again, I'll let you know. Try this for starters: http://german.speak7.com/german_nouns.htm

Yeah it´s kind of a gender, and it´s the problem of German, think its the most difficult part because there´s no way to learn them other than memorize them, with time you´ll get used to them.
