Is it correct to say "rental video store"?
In Japan, we say "rental video stores" even though there are only a few VHS videos and most of them are DVDs. In the English-speaking countries, are they called the same as ours? Also is it wrong to use the word "borrow" when renting them? Can you also say dvd rental store?

"rental video store" is not correct. "Video rental store" is correct, but more commonly we say "video store" or as Daniel said, the name of the store (Blockbuster, Hollywood Video, etc.).
We usually do not use "borrow" unless we are referring to a library. "Borrow" implies you are getting something for a short time for free, while "renting" implies that you are getting something for a short time and are paying a fee for it.
So we usually say:
"I borrowed a book from the library."
"I rented a film from the video store."
Hope this helps! :)

The word "borrow" is fine.
We also still refer to these stores as "video stores/shops" "video rental stores/shops" despite the lack of VHS tapes.
In Australia, we usually just refer to the specific store chain rather than using the generic term. For example, "Blockbuster" or "Video Ezy."
