'A nice cup of tea' or ' a cup of nice tea'? This is a segment from the song 'Chinese'. The adjective 'nice' is semantically refering to 'tea', but it is put before 'cup'. Is this kind of expression common? Is there any diffence between the two kinds of word order? Maybe this happens only because of rhythmic reason? Actually, you read it as " a nice [cup of tea] ". This is the commonest way of saying it in English. "A cup of nice tea" is grammatically correct, but suggests the options of "everyday tea" or even "awful tea". A cup of tea is always nice. :)
