Use of thoroughly I was looking the meaning of research up in a dictionary and this is what I found "to study a subject thoroughly, especially in order to discover (new) information or reach a (new) understanding", and I completely understood its meaning But there's a word that called my attention and it's thouroughly. I looked its meaning up and this is what I found "completely, very much" and this is an example sentece "I thoroughly enjoyed the performance". I just want to know when do I use the adverb "thoroughly" in what contexts or I can use it whenever I want? thank you in advance

Just as you have found out, they are interchangable I was completely soaked when it rained or I was thoroughly soaked when it rained . or I was completly lost in town or I was thoroughly lost in town . swap them round whenever you like

If anything can be done thoroughly, or completely, you can use the word.
