Chat = a conversation about anything, nothing specific. Just talking (chatting) to friends about music, clothes, the weather, anything light-hearted.
Gossip = to talk about scandalous/outrageous things done by people you know...spreading bad (but true) stories.
Nag = to repeatedly tell someone to do something or stop doing something.

CHAT = to talk with someone about any topic normally used with friends. I chat with my friends often
NAG = to keep asking someone to do something, when you keep repeating a request that is nagging, I would do this to my husband :-)
GOSSIP = is when you talk about someone who is not there, this could also be rumours and sometimes can be unpleasant, my friends like to gossip about the woman who lives up the road.

Nagging is when someone is constantly bothering you to do something.
Gossip is talking about someone's personal life while said person is absent.
Chat is an alternate word for talk, and if often used for internet conversations (like chat rooms)
