1. Too much money makes some people rather greedy.
Some people are made rather greedy by too much money.
or Some people are made to be rather greedy by too much money.
2. Peter sent my brother home.
My brother was sent home.
or My brother was sent to home.

For the first sentence, your first variant is perfect! The second one is not technically wrong, but using "to be" seems a little extraneous...

For your second sentence, here is my proposal: My brother was sent home by Peter. I think it is better to leave out the "to" in "sent to home."
