Obviously there are so many synonyms for that word, like "fantastic" (fantastico), "awesome" (asombroso), "amazing" (increible), "spectacular" (espectacular), "splendid" (espléndido), and so on. But the best (and only translation for that specific phrase you said, is "(ésto/éso/aquéllo) es genial". Of course, if you feel more emotiona t the moment to say "it's great", you could change the translation to adecue it for that specific situation, but as I said, "(ésto/éso/aquéllo) es genial" is the right translation.
