You'd use 'cable'. Cables contain wires.

I would use the word wire for an open metal 'string', without plastic covering on It. I would also call it a wire if it were thinner; like a headphone wire.
I would say that a cable would either be larger, (like a TV cable), and always with plastic covering.

I would use "cable" to refer to something ready-to-use with the ends on it already. Example: I need an HDMI cable to hook up my TV to my Blue-Ray player. "Wires" refers to more generic non-specific wiring. Example: Don't look behind my entertainment system because it is just a big, tangled mess of wires! There are times when (in common usage) these can be interchanged. Example: You'll need to run a cable across your attic. or: You'll need to run a wire across your attic. These can mean the same thing even though there may be multiple wires in the cable.

ohhhh hi there girl!. i think the difference betwen them is the usage, because CABLE i think is a device have been used in instalations, more industrial and the Wire is more informal like a cell phone charger.
