My question is about reading history from your native country in your native mother tongue, I do not mean a book on history of Chili written by an american If it were history of France, I'd like to read it from the point of view of a Frenchman/Frenchwoman (:) in 'francais'.

1) I really find the articles on history in the English Wikipedia, en.wikipedia.org , to be good. It always mentions books and other sources you can go to. 2) I loved "One Summer: America, 1927," by Bill Bryson. He writes very well, and this book touches on many aspects of U.S. culture and history.
