If you are talking about one child - and it´s a boy - and he is the son of the person speaking: "My mom (or mum) takes my son to school and my dad picks him up to bring him home."

They are correct except this one: My mom takes child to school and dad pick him up to home. My mom takes the children to school and my dad picks them up to bring them home. The opposite of "moderate" is "excessive".
