what is scope of linguistics? i am asking importance of linguistics in modern world??

"Linguistics: the scientific study of language and its structure, including the study of grammar, syntax, and phonetics." In plain English this means the study of how language works in very great detail. Usually this means approaching language as an abstract idea because philology is the study of language within literary contexts.
