How to learn and remenber a new word quickly ?
You know, in China, people learn English when they are very very young. As students, we actually learn English hard for many exams or entering a higher and better school, so most of us study hard in English even sometimes recite a dictionary of English words. But when we grow up,English is useless for most of us in our ordinary life.
I have found that it was wrong way to learning English, so I really want to know how to learn and remenber the words quickly when we are reading or writting?

A good way to remember a word is to make it meaningful to you. When I am learning a word in French or Chinese, I connect it with something in my life or experience. For example, if a verb reminds you of the sound a cat would make, picture a cat doing that verb. We always remember better when we make connections.

I'm trying to learn Spanish.
If I NEED A WORD in order to say something in a conversation, and I don't know the word, and the person I'm talking to is able to tell me the word I need, I tend to remember it. For example, yesterday I wanted to say "snore" in Spanish and didn't know the word. I asked (in Spanish) "Please tell me the name for the noise a person makes when they are sleeping." My teacher said "roncar."
Words I learn that way really stick in my memory.
I don't know how to apply this systematically, but I think the words you remember are the words you need.
