The other answers are good. It´s a minor point, but I would add that the location of the adverb affects the emphasis. For example, "we go to the cinema often" emphasizes going to the cinema, but "we often go to the cinema" emphasizes what you do often. They mean exactly the same thing as independent statements, but you would be more likely to pick one or the other depending on the context.

The usual place to put an adverb of frequency is immediately before the verb. If the verb has several parts, the adverb usually goes before the main part. I often play tennis. I don't often play tennis. I haven't often played tennis. Some adverbs can also go at the beginning or end of the sentence: What do you do at the weekends? Usually, I play tennis. I usually play tennis. I play tennis, usually. Note that the one position you should never put an adverb is between the verb and its object ( i.e. you wouldn't say *I play usually tennis). Keep the verb and object together. Hope that's helpful.

Hi Miguel! I have recently watched a film with my sister. / I have watched a film with my sister recently. We don't often go to the cinema. / We don't go to the cinema very often. Adverbs of frequency often go between the noun and the verb: She always gets up late. He never drinks alcohol. We rarely go out on Fridays. Hope this helps.
