He is acting "Weird" or "Weirdly"? I know that "weird" is used in general. As an verb requires an adverbs, "weirdly" is grammatically correct, isn't it? I've read if you choose "weird" in this case in a test, it'll be incorrect. Could anyone explain why an adjective comes after a verb, not an adverb? If this case is an exception, do you have other exceptions? ex: act strange and so on. Thanks in advance.

Okimuy, the short answer is that "weirdly" (the adverb) is correct. He is acting weirdly. The reason this is correct is because the word "weirdly" is describing the action "acting". You can also say: His actions are weird. In this case, "actions" is a noun so you would use an adjective. "Weird" is an adjective, "weirdly" is an adverb.
