What's the difference between "face" and "be faced with"?
For example: These companies are facing severe challenges.
These companies are faced with severe challenges.
Which sentence is correct?
Thanks. And how about "be confronted with"?

Actually both sentences are correct. It just depends on what tense you want.
"Facing" can be current or future tense.
"Faced" can be passed, present, or even future (in some cases). They were faced (past), they are faced (present), they will be faced with (future).
In these particular sentences, they both mean that they are confronted with challenges.
Hope this makes sense!
