I just wanted to know what ban gohan means in Japanese. I heard from somewhere it means breakfast and I heard from another source its English meaning is tree of life or a religion?

Answer

ばんごはん means "dinner", the meal / food / dishes for evening or at night. We also say よるごはん、ゆうしょく、etc. (ばん means "night", and you can also say よる for "night".) 
Breakfast is あさごはん or ちょうしょく in Japanese.
