'Like reading' or 'like to read' to say my hobby?
I want to say my hobby. Which one should I say 'I like reading' or 'I like to read'. I saw both expressions in some books. But I was taught we would use 'like' plus 'doing' to refer to hobbies. Is that so?
Thank you!

Gerunds and Infinitives
This topic is very important in proper English usage.
Most native English speakers learn which to use (gerund or infinitive following a verb) by reading and listening.
The verb 'like' may be followed by a gerund or an infinitive, e.g.,
- I like reading.
- I like to read.
However, there are many verb that should be followed by only a gerund and other verbs that should be followed only by the infinitive form of the verb.
I highly recommend the following website which provides a great tutorial, excellent explanations, and very helpful exercises. It will take some time to complete the three tutorials, but if you take your time, study them carefully, and do the exercises, your understanding will improve significantly. Be sure to click on all the links in the tutorials.
