What does "scream of excitement" mean?
What does "scream of excitement" mean?
I thought the meaning would be "cheers" or "shout of joy", but I saw the phrase in a dictionary:
"The cheers and screams of excitement lead the giant beach ball to be tossed into the water without a further second's thought."
So, I guess there are some differences between "cheers" and "scream "excitement."
Thanks in advance!

To me - a 'scream of excitement' would be a somewhat involuntary, and high-pitched scream. An example would be people on a rollercoaster - they tend to scream without even realising that they are! A cheer would be a bit more controlled.
Obviously - there are various degrees of screams, and there is also how the writer interprets what they are hearing. But I think that that is the general idea.
