It is like saying, hey I am saying this light-heartedly, so don't take it too seriously... * 괜찮음, 볼 수 있음 A verb stem followed by ㅁ/음 is one way of making a noun from a verb. For example, 먹다 can be turned into a noun as: 1) 먹는 것[일], 2) 먹기, 3) 먹음. Ending a sentence with them makes it more factual, businesslike, and impersonal. It is similar to saying "Economy doing good" as opposed to "Economy IS doing good". They drive home the fact more clearly by removing non-essentials, as in newspapers. "경제는 잘 되고 있음" has a similar feel. They make it shorter as well, and in Korean they're also used to avoid the normal ending. A normal ending is either the casual(괜찮아/괜찮다) or polite(괜찮아요/괜찮습니다) ending. In some contexts, like the Internet, there are cases where neither seems appropriate. The casual form may sound rude, but the polite one is too formal and distant sounding. In such situations, -음 ending is handy because it is neutral, so it is used in texting a lot. * -며 (안 만나며) 며 by itself doesn't necessarily mean a quotation. It is a particle connecting words or phrases, but can also be used inside of a quotation. ex) 나는 명예며 부귀영화며 돈이며 다 싫다 (며 here is like "도") 그는 한 번밖에 안 만났고 지금도 안 만나며 연락도 안 한다고 말했다. (It is used in a quotation, but what makes the quotation is ~다고) * Other things they do when texting One trend I see is the excessive abbreviation of words, although it is a general trend too.. For example phrases like 안습(안구에 습기차다), 깜놀(깜짝 놀라다), 듣보잡, etc. These are rather basic ones compared with the more aggressive and funny ones. It might be fun to to create new phrases like this, but it has an undesirable effects too.
