1) What does swept up mean here? Does it mean "involved" here? Is it used as metaphora here? I thought sweep up means clean up.
2) The word improbable means unexpected or strange, right?
In 1998 after having been swept up into an improbable romance I was then swept up into the eye of political legal and media maelstrom.
