while they are the same... ish. but I personally would probably understood "I love to swim" as some casual activity, while "I love swimming" as loving the sport called swimming (either as a swimmer or as a spectator at swimming event). So they can be the same, but can mean different things.

For the most part they are the same. If you liked to watch swimming only then you might say "I love swimming", but you would not say "I love to swim". If you loved to swim yourself you could use either. So "I love swimming" is a little bit broader statement I think.

They are the same but I agree with the comment above. "I love to swim" is used when you specifically like to swim. "I love swimming is more general and that you like the sport of swimming.
