What is the meaning of 듯? And how can it be used?
Thank you!

듯 is technically a dependent noun (always needs a verb before it) meaning appearance or impression.
It is often used like an adverb in -ㄴ 듯이 or -ㄴ 듯 form in places where you'd use "as if" in English.
When it's used in -ㄴ 듯하다 form, it is like an adjective (both modifier and predicate) similar to -ㄴ 것 같다, but with a more literary feel.
In daily speech, most people would use -것처럼, -것같이, -것 같다, etc instead of 듯.
In descriptive writing, 듯 can often depict the scene more effectively than its 것 equivalents.
Examples:
* 아이는 넘어졌지만 아무렇지도 않은 듯이 다시 일어났다 => The child fell but stood right back up as if it was nothing.
* 꼬마는 잘 모르겠다는 듯(이) 눈만 깜박이고 있었다 => The kid was just blinking his eyes as if saying he couldn't understand.
(In the above, -ㄴ 듯이 can be replaced with -ㄴ 것처럼 or -ㄴ 것 같이)
* 비가 온 듯하다 / 비가 온 것 같다: It appears it has rained.
* 그는 실망한 듯한 [실망한 것 같은] 표정이었다: He had a look of disappointment on his face.

I believe there is no standard word spelled as 돗.
The closest thing I can think of is 돛, which means the sail of a sailboat or a ship.
돛 is fairly common and also makes other words like 돛대(mast) and 돛단배(sailboat).
돗 and 돛 are pronounced the same, and it seems 돗 used to be an accepted spelling for 돛 in the past.
So if you saw it in someone's picture or blog, there's a good chance that 돛 is what they meant.
Since the sail is what gives the ship its directional movement, it's sometimes used as a metaphor for the direction and strength of people's journey in life.

Where did you find that word?
It is rarely used dialect. I guess it is a typo.
