How to translate 国子监大讲堂 into English
According to wikipedia, Guozijian (国子监)“sometimes translated as the National School, National Academy, Imperial Academy, Imperial University, Imperial College, Imperial Central School, National University,[2] etc., was the national central institution of higher learning in Chinese dynasties after the Sui. It was the highest institution of learning in China's traditional educational system, with the function of administration of education.”
“国子监大讲堂” is a lecture series (讲堂) about traditional Chinese Culture. Guozijian no longer exists now, but it is a symbol of Chinese traditional culture, thus the lecture series is named "国子监大讲堂”. I'm having trouble translating it into English. I'm considering the following translations: "Imperial College Lecture Series," "Lecture Series on Chinese Culture” or "Guozijian Lecture Series." Which one makes more sense? Or is there a better translation?

If you have to translate the title of something which has no recognised English equivalent, then you translate literally and tell the reader that this is what you have done. For example:
There was a college of imperial Chinese culture in the city of Guozijian at [specific time], which I will refer to in this essay as "the Imperial College". Academics from this college delivered a series of lectures in [year], which I will refer to in this essay as "the Imperial College Lecture Series".
You can then add a footnote with the Chinese originals.

I think if you translate it as "Imperial Academy", it's more obvious it's an ancient institution. If you call it "university" or "college," it could be mistaken for a modern institution. I would translate it as Guozijian (name of the old imperial academies) Lecture Series. The note could be in parentheses or as a note. My opinion is that notes should be avoided unless absolutely necessary, except in academic literature.
