森林 is much larger than 树林. Only a few trees can be called 树林,even they have very few species .But 森林 has various plants.

In my opinion,森林is larger and exist in the nature,树林 is smaller and can be planted by human.I don't know if I'm right.We have technical explanations of the differences between them. Is it just the difference between forest and jungle?
